SCG Development Announces the Opening of Seneca Creek Senior Living Apartments
Tysons, Virginia, April 2024: SCG Development, a national affordable housing developer, along with Wellington Development is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of Seneca Creek Senior Living located in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Seneca Creek is a $40,300,000 residential development located near the heart of Gaithersburg, Maryland with close proximity to public transportation. The property is currently in lease-up and is being managed by Residential One Management.
Seneca Creek Senior Living features 111 affordable rental housing units for older adults (62+). The development offers an affordability mix from 30 to 70 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI), with 12 units at 30 percent AMI, 10 units at 50 percent AMI, 78 units at 60 percent AMI and 11 units at 70 percent AMI. Building amenities include a fitness center, personal care salon, free WIFI for residents, a rooftop/courtyard space, and a free shuttle to area retail services.
On site for the ribbon cutting were Montgomery County Officials County Executive Marc Elrich and Councilmember Marilyn Balcombe, who both emphasized the importance of affordable housing in Montgomery County. Also in attendance were Councilmember-at Large Laurie-Anne Sayles, team members from SCG Development, Wellington Development, Davis Construction, M & T Realty Capital Corporation, Stratford Capital Group, Montgomery County DCHA, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, and several current residents.
One of the first tenants at Seneca Creek is Ms. Bell. When asked what she liked best about living at Seneca Creek, Ms. Bell responded that having “a washer and dryer in my unit and being in a brand-new place” were at the top of her list. She said “being close to her job” also made moving to Seneca Creek Senior Living an easy choice.
