SCG Development Teams with Tysons Community Alliance to Jumpstart Cleanup of Tysons’ Green Spaces

With the help of local developers and property owners, the Tysons Community Alliance is on a mission to beautify the green spaces found where many of the area’s major roads intersect.

The first site targeted is the southwest quadrant of the Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) and Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) interchange, where the Vienna-based company Tyson’s Tree Service began clearing overgrowth, invasive plants and dead trees on Jan. 2.

Led by the affordable housing firm SCG Development, which is headquartered nearby at 8245 Boone Blvd, the clean-up effort will set the stage for the approximately 2 acres of land to be replanted with native species and new landscaping — a process that Tysons officials hope to repeat at other locations.

SCG Development proudly sponsored and participated in a 5k run at Tysons Corner Mall on September 9, 2023 to benefit a local food bank- Food for Others.  Food for Others is an important part of Northern Virginia’s safety net for those needing food when an emergency strikes and for the growing number of working poor who need to supplement their inadequate food supplies.

Always looking for a great team building experience, and never letting the grass grow under our feet, some of our team participated in the Reston Fun Run 5k in May 2023!  The event took place around Lake Fairfax and our team was joined by many people from the Fairfax area and beyond.  Everyone had a great time, and our team finished all smiles and ready for the next community adventure!

SCG Development believes in supporting the community where we work and play. With the 2019 NOCC DC Metro Chapter’s 5K fundraiser being held in the backyard of our award winning The Residences at Government Center, we at SCG not only helped sponsor the event but we also volunteered and raced for the cause.

For SCG Development, a project is never complete just because the building is. We help each development grow and prosper with countless remarkable families. Through our work with Housing Families and Citizens’ Housing and Planning Associate, we’ve become not only an asset, but also an ally to each of our thriving communities.
